WHAT IS AN ACTIVE ANCHOR CHART?

Active Anchor Charts are ACTIVE educational tools with information and materials which can be Moved, Sorted, Heard, Touched, and Organized.

They take anchor charts from “Read Me to Try Me.”

HOW IS AN ACTIVE ANCHOR CHART DIFFERENT?

Many anchor charts are STATIC. Static anchor charts deliver information, but they do not provide an activity and they do not have pieces which can be moved.

Active Anchor Charts deliver information, include 1 or more learning activities, and provide materials which can be moved. These materials include text, pictures, manipulatives, and everyday items which relate to each active anchor chart’s learning objective.

The Active Anchor Charts Vocabulary Kit includes 67 pages and is delivered to you instantly as an EDITABLE POWERPOINT FILE.

 WHAT IS AN ANCHOR CHART?

CREATING YOUR ACTIVE ANCHOR CHART BOARDS

You can always use your Active Anchor Chart Kit on a bulletin board, chart paper, poster board, or loosely on the surface of a table or desk.  We highly recommend you create durable Active Anchor Chart Boards your students and you can use to teach and learn.

Use the picture of our completed Active Anchor Chart Board as your guide.  Use only what makes sense for your grade level.  You don’t have to put all the pieces on the board at once.  Add an envelope, library pocket, file folder, or lightweight container to hold the extra pieces.

LAPTOP or DESKTOP COMPUTER…

Your Active Anchor Chart Kits are large files and are best viewed on a laptop or desktop computer.  You’ll also need a laptop or desktop to download and edit your files.

PRINTING…

Your Active Anchor Chart Kits are full of colorful text and images.  Your printer’s brand and model, settings, and ink will determine the vibrancy of your printed pages.  If possible, print your Active Anchor Chart Kits on cardstock or thicker paper.

Many printers are set to print a white border on each page.  You’ll need to change settings on your printer to use more of your paper and avoid the border.  Your printer’s procedure may be different, but on our HP Photosmart Printers we Select Print, then click on Properties, click on Advanced, Scroll down the box to Borderless Printing, Select Print Borderless, and click OK.

Black and white copies will look great if you aren’t able to make color copies. Have parent volunteers or students add some color with colored pencils, crayons, or markers. You can also use colored paper, if you have some available, for a few or all of the pages.

INDIVIDUAL TEACHER’S USE ONLY

Please do not share or distribute any or all of the files with others.  We have priced the kits affordably so every teacher can use these wonderful Active Anchor Charts with their students.  Please refer anyone who would like a copy of their own to our website www.treetopsecret.com
